DNA quantification with high reliability
Our Microvolume spectrophotometers have been specially designed for the quantification of DNA, RNA and proteins. We know that an accurate quantification is of outmost importance for the reliability of downstream processes. This is why we pay particular attention to the reliability and reproducibility of our microvolume spectrometers - and that they are maintenance-free.
Colibri LB 915
The Colibri is small, fast and reliable. This standalone spectrophotometer is easy to use and performs accurate DNA quantification with only 1 µL of sample. In addition, it never requires reconditioning of the sample area.
MICROVOLUME SPECTROPHOTOMETERS: ESSENTIAL FOR THE MOLECULAR BIOLOGY LABORATORY
The accurate quantification of DNA, RNA and proteins, and also the assessment of its purity, are of highest importance for all kinds of downstream applications, such as qRT PCR, sequencing, microarray, western blotting and many others. But the available quantity of biological samples is often very limited, especially in the case of lysates of cells grown in microplates, or small tissue samples from patients or laboratory animals. Thus, UV-Vis spectrophotometers requiring the smallest volume of sample are very valuable in laboratories using Molecular Biology methods. A high reproducibility, especially at low concentrations, and a wide linear range are also very desirable, in order to avoid measuring several aliquots of the same sample.
MICROVOLUME SPECTROPHOTOMETERS FOR DNA AND NUCLEIC ACID QUANTIFICATION
Our microvolume spectrophotometers have been optimized for the quantification of DNA, RNA and proteins using A260 and A280 (absorbance at 260 nm and 280 nm) and very small volumes of sample (as low as 1 µL). To evaluate the purity of the sample, not only A260/A280 and A260/A230 are automatically calculated, but the spectrum is also displayed on the screen so that you can easily see if the purification was good enough.
In addition to the default quantification settings for dsDNA, RNA and ssDNA, the software of our microvolume spectrophotometers enables to use custom extinction coefficients, enabling the user to measure other sample types, such as siRNA or oligonucleotides.
MICROVOLUME SPECTROPHOTOMETERS FOR OTHER APPLICATIONS
Since we are able to measure absorption not only in the UV but also in the visible range, our microvolume spectrophotometers can also be used to quantify proteins using traditional methods such as Lowry, Bradford and BCA (with a selection of curve fitting algorithms).
A wide range of other dyes can also be measured, e.g. for microarray applications, protein markings or any colorimetric method with limited sample availability. The Colibri's versatility makes it a great addition to any life sciences laboratory
